How it works

With the help of a mediator, you can break through conflicts with effective communication.

Mediators are trained to be a neutral third party able to identify sources of misunderstanding and support parties to better hear one another and find creative solutions to challenges.

We use a trauma-informed, transformative approach with a focus on skill-building. This means that building trust, learning and personal development are central to the work we do. We offer several ways to teach and support individuals, couples, schools, organizations and communities to reduce the stress that conflicts can cause and improve their relationships.

Individual Coaching

Need help with a conflict? Want to work on setting better boundaries? We work with adults and teens to build self-awareness, self-compassion, need literacy and effective communication. Sessions are tailored to your learning needs.

Mediation for Couples

Can’t work through a conflict? Considering divorce? We can help both couples who want to work on their communication skills and couples who are looking for a family mediator to support their divorce.

Schools and Organizations

Do you have conflicts in your organization? Need skill-building for staff? We offer purpose-built training for staff and management, and mediation services for clients and staff. We can help you build a cohesive collaborative environment.

Soula Gountouvas

Hi! I’m Soula, I’m a mediator and educator who has been supporting communities since 2014. With over a decade of experience in public education, community development, personal development using dialogue, embodiment, and the arts, I am committed to supporting individuals and communities do the hard work of personal and collective transformation. Equipped with a Masters in degree in Teaching, a Post-Graduate degree in mediation, and extensive experience in coaching and faciliation, I am ready to help.

Our Approach

In a trauma-informed mediation approach, the mediator better understands the needs of clients who are managing triggers and trauma. They look for signs of dysregulation, dissociation, and ensure that parties have options and agency throughout the process. Building trust and repairing ruptures in trust is the foundation of the mediation. Our core practices create psychological safety are using compassion, mindfulness-based grounding and co-regulation practices and reframing narratives so they can better bulid towards collaborative problem-solving.

At Aligned Mediation, we believe that every conflict holds the potential for healing and transformation. Our mission is to guide individuals, couples, and communities through challenging disputes with compassion, clarity, and a deep understanding of the human experience. By integrating mindfulness, Nonviolent Communication (NVC), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), we offer a trauma-informed approach that fosters connection, clarity, and lasting solutions.We provide education, training, mediation and coaching to work with life as it’s happening.
